Our Work in
Congo
The Baobab Tree Charity is dedicated to improving access to education for children and young people in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Through the collection and distribution of educational resources, we work to support children, teachers, and communities where access to learning materials is limited.
What We Do
Book Collection & Distribution
We collect high-quality educational books and learning materials in the UK and organise their shipment to partner organisations in the DRC.
These resources are distributed to:
-
orphanages
-
schools
-
community learning spaces
Library Hub Development
We are working to establish community library hubs in Kinshasa, creating safe and structured environments where children can read, study, and learn.
These spaces will:
-
provide access to books
-
support reading and learning
-
offer a calm and safe environment for children
Partnerships on the Ground
We collaborate with trusted local partners, including schools and community organisations, to ensure that resources reach those who need them most.
Our Impact (So Far)
-
Over 7,000 books collected in the UK
-
First shipment of educational materials successfully sent
-
Ongoing partnerships with schools and orphanages
Our Vision for Congo
We are building towards a long-term vision of sustainable education support, including the development of structured learning environments and future skills-based programmes such as Solace Academy.
